NPR Appearance And Two New Shows
NPR’s Latino USA reports on how Ecuadorian-born artist, Alex Alvear maxed out his credit card the last time his Boston-based band, Mango Blue, produced a CD. This time, instead of using high interest credit cards, the band is turning to their fans and using a new approach based on the “micro-lending” model of financing.
Alex says: “This is an opportunity to make people feel that they are belonging to something that they love or admire you know ‘I’m not just buying this CD - I made this recording possible’, so it just has an entirely different psycological approach”
Alex and his band Mango Blue play two shows at the Regatta Bar at the Charles Hotel in Boston on Friday night. Alex goes into the studio to record his new album on Saturday
